History of Shaheed Diwas

In 1948, the history of Shaheed Diwas originated when Nathuram Godse assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation. Gandhi’s assassination resulted in a profound loss for the nation, leading to the establishment of Martyrs’ Day as a tribute to this great leader.

Every year, on January 30th, the day of Gandhi’s death, the nation observes Martyrs’ Day to honor not only Gandhi’s sacrifice but also the sacrifices made by all the brave soldiers who have laid down their lives for the country.

During the day, a two-minute silence is observed, and wreaths are laid at the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi in Raj Ghat, New Delhi.

Shaheed Diwas is not just a day of remembrance but also a day of inspiration. It is a reminder that one person’s sacrifice can inspire many others to make similar sacrifices for their country.
