Shakti Dubey, a determined and passionate Biochemistry graduate from Prayagraj, has secured the top rank in the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024. Shakti Dubey – Educational Background and Early Life

Born and brought up in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, Shakti completed her schooling and undergraduate studies in Biochemistry from the University of Allahabad. She later pursued a postgraduation in the same field from the renowned Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Her academic excellence laid a strong foundation for her UPSC preparation, which she began in 2018.

Motivation Behind Choosing Civil Services

In a mock interview hosted by Chahal Academy on YouTube, Shakti shared the pivotal moments that shaped her career choice. Reflecting on her upbringing and life in a BHU hostel, she said,

“My father is in the police service, and I’ve seen him work closely. Initially, I thought it was just a job, but during my time in the hostel, I realized that even the sight of a police vehicle brings a sense of security. That’s when it struck me—public service can truly make a difference in people’s lives.”

She added that her family, especially her parents, played a vital role in her journey. Their unwavering support helped her navigate the demanding preparation process with confidence and clarity.

Optional Subject and UPSC Preparation

Shakti chose Political Science and International Relations as her optional subject for the UPSC examination. Her consistent efforts, clarity of purpose, and structured preparation strategy helped her stand out among thousands of aspirants.

UPSC 2024 Results and Vacancies

The Union Public Service Commission declared the results on Tuesday, announcing a total of 1,129 vacancies across various services. These include 180 positions in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), distributed as follows:

  • General – 73
  • EWS – 18
  • OBC – 52
  • SC – 24
  • ST – 13

For the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), 55 vacancies have been reported. Additionally, 50 posts have been reserved for candidates with benchmark disabilities, while the candidature of 241 recommended candidates remains provisional. One result has been withheld.
