IAS Next will be organizing the Interview Guidance Program for the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023 shortly after the announcement of the CSE Mains results. In the meantime, you can participate in our DAF (Detailed Application Form) session.
The Role of the UPSC Interview
In the UPSC selection process, the interview, also known as the Personality Test or the Civil Services Interview, is the final stage. It carries significant weight in determining a candidate’s rank and cadre allocation. While the Mains Exam marks decide whether a candidate qualifies for the Civil Services. The interview score plays a crucial role in shaping which specific service a candidate is likely to join.
The interview conducted by UPSC is an evaluation of a candidate’s overall personality, assessing analytical ability, lateral thinking, logical decision-making, and more. The objective is to gauge the candidate’s suitability for a career in public service through a board of competent and unbiased observers. It encompasses not only intellectual qualities but also social traits, interest in current affairs, mental alertness, critical thinking, and moral integrity.

Our free UPSC Interview Guidance Program typically consists of a 30-minute interview plus or minus 5 minutes. The questions cover various topics, including hobbies and their practical application.
