BHUVAN 3.0: Bhuvan Panchayat contributes to ISRO’s Space-based Information Support for Decentralised Planning Update project. In the National Workshop on “Space-based Information Support for Decentralised Planning-2“, they unveiled Bhuvan Panchayat 3.0, an upgraded version of the geo-imaging website. This is part of the SISDP project, launched in 2011 to improve local planning info. The project completed its initial database building phase by 2017.

Background
- In 2011, India launched the Space-based Information Support for Decentralized Planning Programme to empower local governance bodies called Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and their stakeholders. The goal was to promote participatory and decentralized planning across the country.
- Leveraging the capabilities of information and communication technology (ICT), the Bhuvan Panchayat web portal was introduced. This platform facilitated visualizing, planning, and monitoring of development schemes specifically tailored for Panchayats, which are the grassroots level administrative units.
