Sub-Schemes
‘Mission Shakti’ has two sub-schemes –
- ‘Sambal’ Sub-Scheme: This program aims to enhance the safety and security of women. It blends ideas from past efforts like One Stop Centre (OSC), Women Helpline (WHL), and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP). Plus, it adds Nari Adalats, which are groups of women meant for resolving disputes and pushing for gender justice in society and families.
- ‘Samarthya’ Sub-Scheme: This initiative focuses on empowering women. It includes revamped versions of existing programs such as Ujjwala, Swadhar Greh, and Working Women Hostels, with modifications to better meet the needs of women seeking empowerment and support.
Objectives
- To fulfill the Government’s pledge for “women-led development” by supporting women throughout their lives and making them equal partners in nation-building, focusing on convergence and citizen participation.
- To empower women economically, ensuring their freedom to make choices without fear of violence.
- To lessen the caregiving responsibilities on women and boost female workforce participation by promoting skills, capacity building, financial education, and access to microcredit.
