The Karnataka Government recently launched its Gruha Jyothi Scheme, aimed at providing affordable housing to the poor and middle-class families of the state.
Why the Scheme is in News?
The Karnataka Government launched the Gruha Jyothi Scheme to provide affordable housing to poor and middle-class families in the state as part of the “Housing for All” plan. Over the next five years, the scheme aims to provide housing to approximately 4.5 lakh families.

Introduction
Under the Gruha Jyothi, the Karnataka Government will provide financial assistance of up to Rs. 2.5 lakh to eligible beneficiaries for the construction of their own houses. The government will also provide subsidies on the interest rate for loans taken for the construction of the house.
About Gruha Jyothi Scheme
The scheme welcomes all Karnataka residents who do not own a house under their name or their family members’ names. It provides financial assistance to both individual households and groups of families interested in constructing homes in the same locality.
