The Dudhwa National Park is located in the districts of Lakhimpur and Kheri in Uttar Pradesh, along border with Nepal.

  • This region comes under the sub-Himalayan area called as Terai belt.
  • Marshes, grasslands, and dense forests make up Dudhwa.

Hydrology

  • Dudhwa National Park through which Suheli and Mohana streams flow.
  • Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary through which Sharda River flows.
  • Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary through which Geruwa River flows.
  • All of these rivers are tributaries of the Ghagra River.

Wildlife

  • Tiger, Rhinoceros, Swamp deer, Elephant, Sambar, Hog deer, Cheetal, Sloth bear, Blue bull, Porcupine, Otter, Python, Monitor lizard, Mugger, Gharial etc.
  • In Dudhwa, one can spot both Tigers and Rhinos together, making it the only place in U.P. where this is possible.
