  • Borders: It shares its borders with Rajasthan to the west, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Delhi to the northwest, Uttarakhand and has an international border with Nepal to the north, Bihar to the east, and Madhya Pradesh to the south. It also touches the states of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh to the southeast.
  • Rivers: The state is known for its two major rivers, the Ganges and Yamuna, which join at Triveni Sangam in Allahabad and continue eastward as the Ganges. Other prominent rivers in the state include the Gomti and Saryu.
  • Historical Significance: Uttar Pradesh has a rich historical legacy and has been home to many ancient and medieval Indian empires, including the Maurya Empire, Harsha Empire, Gupta Empire, Pala Empire, Delhi Sultanate, and Mughal Empire.
  • Archaeological Sites: The ancient Dhamek Stupa in Sarnath marks the spot where Buddha gave his first sermon.
  • Taj Mahal: The iconic Taj Mahal, a masterpiece of Mughal architecture, was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. It took 22 years to complete.
  • Religious Sites: Ayodhya is known as the birthplace of Lord Rama.
  • Aligarh: Aligarh is famous for its lock industry.
  • Wildlife: The state is home to a Lion breeding center and a Lion safari located on the outskirts of Etawah City.
  • Agriculture: Uttar Pradesh is one of the largest producers of potatoes, sugarcane, and wheat.
  • Atomic Power Station: The Narora Atomic Power Station is located in Uttar Pradesh.
