UPSC CSE 2022 Service Allocation List Released

UPSC CSE 2022

The Union Public Service Commission has released the UPSC CSE – 2022 Service allocation list on CSE Candidates’ Information Central website – cseplus.nic.in on July 22, 2023.

The UPSC Service Allocation List provides details about the services allotted to the selected candidates based on their secured ranks. It includes allocations for IAS, IFS, IPS, Central Civil Services, Group ‘A,’ and Group ‘B’ posts. To access the list, candidates can visit the ‘Announcements’ section on the homepage of CSE Candidates’ Information Central and download the information they require.

According to the recent trends observed in the UPSC CSE-2022 service allocation, it is no surprise that 17 out of the top 20 candidates chose IAS. However, Mayur Hazarika, securing AIR 5, opted for Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and topped the IFS list. Joining him, Gahana Navya James (AIR 6) and Vidushi Singh (AIR 13) from the top 20 candidates also selected IFS.

As expected, Ishita Kishore, securing AIR 1, chose IAS, and the top 3 candidates in UPSC CSE 2022 all preferred IAS. Notably, Ayan Jain, securing AIR 87, obtained IPS and secured the top position in the IPS list. He belongs to the general category. Similarly, Muskan Khurana, securing AIR 97, secured IRS and topped the IRS list. She is also from the general category.

The allocation list indicates that 174 candidates have been assigned IAS, 197 IPS, 163 IRS, 35 IFS, 26 IA&AS, 10 ICAS, 11 IDES, 6 IPOS, 5 DANIPS, 22 IDAS, 2 ITS, 4 DANICS, 2 PONDICS, and 7 ICLS.

CATEGORY WISE SERVICE ALLOCATION

In the general category, candidates up to AIR 82 have been allotted IAS, while in the OBC category, Rank 403 received IAS. For the SC category, up to rank 577, and for the ST category, up to rank 507, candidates secured IAS positions.

This year, Indian Foreign Service (IFS) has regained its popularity, with three candidates from the top 20 opting for IFS, in contrast to the previous year, where none of the top 20 preferred it.

HOW SERVICES ARE ALLOCATED

While allocating services to any category, many factors are taken into consideration. They are:

  1. The rank of the candidate in the CSE
  2. Candidate’s order of preference for service.
  3. Candidate’s category like General, OBC, SC, ST, etc.
  4. Availability of vacancy in the candidate’s category.
