- Biosphere Reserves: The Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, located in the Western Ghats and Nilgiri Hills, comprises parts of adjoining states of Kerala and Karnataka. The Agasthyamala Biosphere Reserve is in the southwest of the state, bordering Kerala in the Western Ghats.
