Introduction

As the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (HUL), a large FMCG company, Rohit Jawa assumed responsibility. Sanjiv Mehta, who departed on Monday during the company’s annual general meeting, has been succeeded by Jawa. At the end of the business day on June 26, Mehta turned the reins over to Jawa, who had been named Additional Director and CEO-Designate as of April 1. Mehta presided over the organisation for over ten years and spent more than thirty years there.

Jawa formerly held the position of Chief of Transformation for Unilever in London. He began working with HUL in 1988 as a management trainee and has a demonstrated history of delivering consistent business success in India, South East Asia, and North America.

About the Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL)

  • Indian consumer products business Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), with its headquarters in Mumbai, is controlled by the British. It belongs to the British business Unilever. Foods, drinks, cleaning supplies, toiletries, water purifiers, and other fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs) are among its offerings.
  • Originally known as Hindustan Vanaspati Manufacturing Co., HUL was founded in 1931. In 1956, the several member organisations merged, and Hindustan Lever Limited was born.
  • In 14 categories, there were more than 50 product names in Hindustan Unilever’s portfolio as of 2019. The firm, which employs 21,000 people, reported sales of 34,619 crores in the fiscal year 2017–18.

The integration of GSK’s 3,800 employees, however, remained problematic since, according to HUL, there was no provision in the agreement for staff retention. After completing all legal processes, HUL concluded its merger with GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (GSKCH India) in April 2020. HUL has a market value of Rs. 638548.42 crore in December 2022.
