Provisions of NDMA 2005: The Act is all about handling disasters with a focus on getting ready, coming up with plans to lessen the impact, and building up our ability to deal with them. It also points out that the Ministry of Home Affairs is the main ministry in charge of taking care of the country’s disaster management efforts. The Act also talks about money matters, including setting up funds for quick responses in emergencies, such as the National Disaster Response Fund.

Role of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)

The role of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is:

  • Laying down policies for disaster management.
  • Approving the plans prepared by the different concerned Departments.
  • Draw a National and State Plan.
