Poshan Maah 2024, now in its 7th phase, is a nationwide celebration aimed at raising nutrition awareness and encouraging actions toward building a healthier India. Launched in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, by Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smt. Annpurna Devi and Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, this year’s campaign addresses critical issues such as anaemia prevention, growth monitoring, and supplementary nutrition, under themes like “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” and good governance through technology.
Since its inception in 2018, Poshan Maah has witnessed over 100 crore nutrition-centric activities across the nation, focusing on a range of themes to improve public health.
Key Themes of Poshan Maah 2024
Anaemia Mukt Bharat: A central focus on reducing anemia through a 6x6x6 strategy, impacting six age groups and six interventions across six institutional frameworks.
Tech-Driven Solutions: Digital platforms like POSHAN Tracker monitor nutrition delivery for over 10 crore beneficiaries.
Complementary Feeding: A critical phase for children aged six months to two years, emphasizing the importance of timely, nutritious complementary feeding to combat undernutrition.

- Maharashtra: 1.80 crore activities
- Bihar: 1.17 crore activities
- Madhya Pradesh: 79.32 lakh activities
- Uttar Pradesh: 70.28 lakh activities
- Gujarat: 66.76 lakh activities
Impact and Nationwide Engagement
With over 9.22 crore activities conducted so far, the 7th Rashtriya Poshan Maah has become a grassroots movement, engaging communities, government bodies, and local organizations. These activities reflect India’s collective effort to improve nutritional awareness and outcomes, especially for infants, young children, and women.
POSHAN Abhiyaan: Mission and Strategic Pillars
Launched in 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the POSHAN Abhiyaan aims to holistically advance nutritional outcomes for children under six, adolescent girls, and pregnant and lactating women. It operates through four strategic pillars:
- Access to Quality Services through schemes like ICDS and NHM.
- Cross-Sectoral Convergence involving ministries like Water and Sanitation and Drinking Water.
- Leveraging Technology through tools like ICDS-CAS.
- Jan Andolan, a community-driven effort to promote nutrition.
