The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Western Railways zone of Indian Railways has launched a new initiative called “Mission Amanat” to make it easier for railway passengers to get back their lost luggage.
Mission Amanat will upload the details of lost luggage and belongings, along with photos, on the official website of the zonal railway.
About Operation Amanat
- Under the Operation Amanat initiative, the Railway Protection Force has taken a novel initiative to make it easier for the passengers to get back their lost luggage.
- It helps to track lost belongings of passengers.
- RPF personnel of the respective Divisions upload the details of lost luggage along with photos on the web portal https://wr.indianrailways.gov.in/ under the tab of divisions, specifically in the link “Mission Amanat – RPF”.
- Passengers have the ability to check the availability of their missing or lost luggage, which went missing or was lost in railway premises or trains, at the Lost Property Office centres at stations.

- The Indian Railways entrusts the Railway Protection Force (RPF) with the responsibility of protecting railway passengers, passenger areas, and railway property.
- The Railway Protection Force Act, 1957 established the Railway Protection Force.
- The Railway Protection Force (RPF) possesses the exclusive authority to arrest, investigate, and prosecute criminals, making it the only Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) with such powers.

- The UPSC Civil Services Examination conducts the recruitment of officers for the RPF, and it results in the selection of individuals who become members of the Indian Railway Protection Force Service (IRPFS).
- A senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer holds the post of Director-General (DG) of the RPF on deputation, as the Director General heads the RPF.
