- Neeraj Chopra looked a little out of sorts on his first attempt, which was ruled a foul. He opened his account with a throw of 83.52m in his second attempt, which put him in third place behind Julian Weber (86.20m) and Jakub Vadlejch (84.71m).
- Chopra won his first Diamond League Trophy when he won the Lausanne leg in August 2022. He went on to win the Diamond League Trophy in the final later that year. The Tokyo Olympic gold medallist had won the Diamond League meeting in Doha on May 5 with a throw of 88.67 metres.

India’s Murali Sreeshankar, meanwhile, finished fifth in the men’s long jump event with a best effort of 7.88m.

Heading into the Athletissima 2023, Murali Sreeshankar had qualified for the upcoming World Athletics Championships in the men’s long jump event with a personal best of 8.41m at the recently concluded National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships 2023 in Bhubaneswar.
Sreeshankar’s mark in Bhubaneswar was just 0.01m off compatriot Jeswin Aldrin’s national record and world-leading mark of 8.42m achieved in March.
Jeswin Aldrin was in the initial entry list for the Lausanne Diamond League 2023 but the 21-year-old pulled out citing fitness issues.
