In preparation for this milestone celebration, a master plan is underway to revamp and renovate the Naga Heritage Village in Kisama, the main venue for the festival. Renovation works are projected to be completed by November 17.

Launched in 2000 as a modest three-day event in Kohima, the Hornbill Festival has transformed into a major tourism highlight for Nagaland, now extending over 10 days. The venue shifted to Kisama in the mid2000s, allowing for greater tourist participation.
