Madhya Pradesh Amends Judicial Service Rules: 3 Years Practice Or 70% Marks In Bachelor’s Degree Mandatory For Civil Judge Junior Division Exam of Madhya Pradesh Judiciary

The Governor of Madhya Pradesh in consultation with the High Court has made amendments in the Madhya Pradesh Judicial Service (Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 1994.

The key amendment made is in the eligibility criteria for appearing in the Civil Judge Junior Division Examination.

As per the amended Rule 7, candidates will be eligible for the examination if they possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and either have continuously practiced as an advocate for not less than 3 years on the last date fixed for submission of the application or are outstanding law graduates with a brilliant academic career, having “passed all exams in the first attempt” and securing “at least 70% marks” in the aggregate for the general and OBC categories.

For candidates belongs from SC & ST categories, at least 50% marks in the aggregate is essential. Earlier there was no requirement for 3 years of practical experience or any prescribed minimum aggregate score in Bachelor of Law.

The age limit for eligibility remains the same, i.e., a minimum of 21 years and not having completed the age of 35 years on the first day of January of the following year in which the applications for appointment are seeking.
