Besides these, 1,042 vacancies exist in the Indian Forest Service (IFS) and 301 in Indian Revenue Service (IRS), Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said in a written reply.
Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday that there are currently 1,365 vacancies in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and 703 vacancies in the Indian Police Service (IPS). Additionally, there are 1,042 vacancies in the Indian Forest Service (IFS) and 301 vacancies in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), as stated by Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh in a written reply.
Singh emphasized that the filling up of vacancies is an ongoing process, and the central government is committed to expeditiously filling up these vacant posts. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Services Examinations (CSE) every year to recruit candidates for civil services, including IAS, IPS, IFS, and IRS.
To fill vacancies in the IAS and IPS through promotion quota, the UPSC holds selection committee meetings in collaboration with state governments. Furthermore, the government has taken steps to increase the annual intake of IAS officers to 180 through the CSE until CSE-2022, while the intake of IPS officers has been increased to 200 from CSE-2020. In 2022, the intake of IFS officers has been raised to 150, and there are 301 vacancies reported by the Department of Revenue for filling through CSE-2023.
