Widows, particularly in developing countries, often experience discrimination, social isolation and economic hardship following the death of their husbands. Widows and their children often encounter obstacles when it comes to inheriting property, accessing education and healthcare, and participating in the workforce. This situation can lead to a cycle of poverty, vulnerability, and marginalization for many of them.

Theme of International Widows Day 2023
