Overview of the Examination
International Biology Olympiad is one of the most well-known Olympiad exams that focus on biology. This exam is for students who are interested in studying anatomy and are familiar with the basic facts of animals and plants, and want to pursue a career in biology. Biology is a huge science with several divisions, including Botany, Zoology, Anatomy, Physiology, Biotechnology, Ecology, Immunology, Genetics, Microbiology and so on. All of these subjects are covered in the IBO test. A student who has an interest and curiosity in learning about any of these fields of biology can take the exam.
Global Participation
The IBO 2023 witnessed the participation of 293 students from 76 countries, making it a truly global event. Despite the stiff competition, India emerged as the frontrunner, showcasing the country’s remarkable talent pool in the field of biology. Singapore was the only other country to secure four gold medals, highlighting India’s exceptional performance.

Previously, India has topped the medals tally in Astronomy and Astrophysics (in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2015, and 2021), Physics (in 2018), and Junior Science (in 2014, 2019, 2021, and 2022).
