Government Schemes in India

The Indian government has launched various programs through its ministries to boost the overall well-being of the country. 1. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)

The Indian government has a goal to provide affordable housing to city dwellers by 2022 through a program called Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, which was launched on June 25, 2015. Under this initiative, people can access home loans with starting interest rates as low as 6.5 percent per year for a period of up to 20 years. The eligibility for the economically weaker sections (EWS) and low-income groups (LIG) has been extended until March 31, 2022, making it easier for more individuals to benefit from the scheme.

2. Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna

Starting from March 26, 2020, there’s a program that ensures people who need it get enough food. If you have a ration card, you get 5 kilograms of rice or wheat and 1 kilogram of dal through the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana program. This plan started by covering 80 crore ration cards for 3 months in 2020, and now it’s extended for another four months in 2022.

3. Meri Policy Mere Hath

The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana was launched to offer crop insurance to farmers, ensuring they are supported in case of crop loss or damage. This program aims to keep farmers well-informed and equipped by providing financial assistance to those who have experienced such losses. Through this initiative, the government provides funding to ensure the farming community is resilient in the face of challenges.

4. Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan

The Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan scheme is all about giving a helping hand to state higher education institutions. It offers them special funding to get better at what they do and make higher education easier for everyone to reach.

5. Support for marginal individuals for livelihood and enterprise (SMILE)

This initiative supports people who have faced challenges by offering them medical help, counseling, skill-building, and connections to job opportunities. It’s a collaborative effort involving the government, community groups, local organizations, and others, all working together to assist those in need.

6. Jal Jeevan Yojana

As of 2022, the Jal Jeevan Mission aims to link four crore rural families to the public water system. This initiative, also known as the Har Ghar Jal Mission, focuses on getting communities involved and using technology to deliver water services by 2024. The union budget for 2022 allocates a substantial 60,000 crores of rupees to support this mission.

7. Jalshakti Abhiyan 2022

Starting on March 29, 2022, the Jal Shakti Abhiyan campaign introduced a fresh initiative called “Catch the Rain,” running until November 30, 2022. This program is all about stepping up our game in saving and wisely using water. The goal is to get better at conserving and managing our water resources. So, it’s like a team effort to make sure every drop counts!

8. Ayushman Bharat Yojana

In 2018, the government introduced the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, also known as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. This initiative has a big goal: to offer health insurance worth up to Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year. The aim is to help more than 10 crore vulnerable families who don’t have easy access to good healthcare. This plan doesn’t just focus on big treatments but covers basic and important health services too. It’s considered one of the biggest healthcare schemes globally.

9. Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

In 2019, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) was introduced with the goal of offering financial assistance to farmers. Under this scheme, eligible farmers get Rs. 6,000 annually, divided into three equal parts of Rs. 2,000 each, directly credited to their bank accounts. The idea behind the program is to provide a steady income to farmers, helping them cope with financial challenges and ensuring a more stable livelihood.

10. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

In 2014, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan kicked off with a mission to make our country cleaner and healthier. The goal was to get rid of open defecation, manage waste better, and boost overall hygiene. Thanks to the hard work put into this initiative, India has really stepped up its game in upgrading its sanitation facilities.

11. Digital India

In 2015, India kicked off the Digital India initiative with a big goal—to turn the country into a tech-savvy society and a smart economy. 13. Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao

In 2015, the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme was introduced to tackle the problem of fewer baby girls being born and to encourage girls’ education.
