SDM Garima Sharma: Often you would think that there is a limited age for studies or government jobs, but today we are going to introduce you to a woman officer who has become SDM at the age of retirement.
Actually, we are talking about Rajasthan’s Jalore, where Bagoda subdivision officer Garima Sharma has become an officer at the age of 51.
SDM in 51 years
Bagoda subdivision officer Garima Sharma has become an officer at the age of 51. Perhaps it was not that easy either, because at the age of retirement, giving the toughest exam, then getting selected and becoming a government officer, Garima Sharma has shown it by doing all this.
Now you must be thinking that which is such a government exam, which is held at the age of retirement? So tell that this is the most difficult RAS exam of the state.
Garima Sharma Inspiring
As such, only candidates up to the age of 40 years can give the RAS exam. But widow women are exempted from this. Those whose age is 59 years 364 days can also become RAS. But there are very few candidates who have the courage to become something even at this stage of age.
These days applications are being sought for 905 posts of RAS-2023. Many people hold back from participating in this exam only thinking that what will be our selection at this age. In such a situation, the story of SDM Garima Sharma is inspiring.
SDM Garima Sharma told that it was not so easy for her to get this position. She said, ‘My husband Sandeep Kumar Sharma is not in this world, but he always stood by my side. The years 2013 and 2014 saw him fighting the disease for two years and I had also decided to donate my liver to him. The process had also been completed in the hospital, but time allowed something else, he was no more.
This time was broken like a mountain of sorrows on me and my daughter. I have taught in many renowned schools of Jaipur. My husband used to tell me to become an officer in the government, but I never took it seriously.
Cracked 3 exams
Garima Sharma tells that in the last moment, the husband persuaded a lot and said that you can become a government officer. He himself was an officer in the center, so he understood the importance of a government job. Sandeep passed away in the year 2014, after his death I decided to fulfill his dream, I thought that I will not stop till I become an RAS officer.
Started preparing for RAS from the year 2015. In 2016 recruitment I gave 3 competition exam and cracked all three. School lecturer, college lecturer and also RAS-2016.Then I became tehsildar. But I wanted to achieve higher post. So I didn’t like to stay here.
Husband’s dream
Garima Sharma said that in the year 2018 she gave the RAS exam again. I got the advantage of widow category, in which there is complete age relaxation. There is a condition under this category that 60 years should not be completed before appointment.
I cracked RAS and got joining in 2021. Then I was about 51 years old. Actually it was the inspiration I got from my husband, due to which I have reached here. I gave my life just to fulfill his dream. Now I am living Sandeep’s dream by becoming an officer.
