Contribution of Science

Contribution of Science in Day to Day Life: Science, the systematic and logical exploration of the universe’s workings, is a constantly evolving field. It involves observing, experimenting, and measuring the nature and behavior of the physical world, then formulating laws to explain these phenomena. Science, a true blessing to humanity, has greatly improved our quality of life. Its influence is pervasive, touching every aspect of our existence. In every corner of our lives, science plays a leading role, guiding our understanding and shaping our experiences.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways announced that starting midnight on February 15th/16th, 2021, all lanes at fee plazas on National Highways would become ‘FASTag lanes‘. Drivers without FASTags would need to pay double the standard fee for their vehicle category at electronic toll plazas nationwide.

How does FASTag work?

This device utilizes Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to facilitate payments directly from the linked prepaid or savings account. Mounted on the windscreen, it enables vehicles to seamlessly pass through plazas without the need to halt. This payment system is an integral component of the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) program, overseen by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which manages the collection of payments.

Why do we need this scheme?

NHAI says using these devices will make toll passage smoother, removing the need for cash or stopping. Cameras at toll booths will take pictures of vehicle occupants, giving data for tracking vehicle movements to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
