The rapid adoption of generative AI has been invigorating. For instance, GM employs Google Cloud’s conversational AI in their OnStar connected vehicles, exploring further applications in enhancing driver information. HCA Healthcare collaborates with us to leverage Med-PaLM, an optimized large model for healthcare, enhancing patient care. Likewise, US Steel deploys generative AI to streamline technician workflows by summarizing and visualizing complex manuals for efficient repairs.

This, however, merely scratches the surface of what our foundational models, accessible through Vertex AI in our Cloud AI Platform, can achieve. Tens of thousands of developers are harnessing over 100 AI models on Vertex, nurturing a flourishing landscape of generative AI applications. Our expanding ecosystem, in partnership with diverse collaborators, ensures the availability of models tailored to your creative aspirations.

Empowering with Duet AI

Another arena of promise lies in the transformative potential of generative AI for business processes. Our introduction of Duet AI, showcased at I/O, embodies an intelligent collaborator that stands beside you. Already embraced by over a million individuals in Workspace, Duet AI empowers tasks across Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, and more.

Feedback from early adopters has been invaluable in fine-tuning Duet AI’s capabilities. Excitingly, we’re announcing the general availability of Duet AI within Google Workspace. Furthermore, enhancements and expansions across Google Cloud Platform offer customers the power to code, deploy, and manage applications using popular development environments.

Balancing Boldness with Responsibility

Amidst the exhilaration of the AI opportunity, acknowledging potential challenges remains vital. Google Cloud remains steadfast in cultivating and deploying technologies responsibly, with privacy, security, and safety as bedrock principles, guided by our enduring AI values.
A specific focus is ensuring the easy identification of AI-generated content online, facilitated by digital watermarking. Utilizing technology powered by Google DeepMind SynthID, images generated via Vertex AI can be invisibly watermarked, preserving image quality. Subsequent verification tools can then identify AI-generated images through these watermarks.
I’m thrilled to share that we’re the pioneering cloud provider enabling digital watermarking and verification for platform-generated images. This groundbreaking product is now in experimental preview for select customers, with more innovations on the horizon.

HCA Healthcare has entered into a collaboration with Google Cloud to bring Med-PaLM, our highly refined large model for healthcare, into play, enhancing doctors’ ability to offer superior patient care. Additionally, US Steel, a prominent manufacturer, has embraced generative AI to empower technicians with the capability to condense and visualize instruction manuals, facilitating more efficient equipment repairs.
