Union Home Minister Amit Shah has inaugurated the construction of the ‘Balidan Stambh’ in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, June 24. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, continued his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, undertaking significant endeavours to honour the bravery and sacrifice of the region’s valiant individuals.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has inaugurated the construction of the ‘Balidan Stambh’ in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, June 24. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha joined him at the park near Lal Chowk, the commercial center of Srinagar. This memorial is a part of the Srinagar Smart City project and serves as a tribute to the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation. While stringent security arrangements had been put in place for the function, shops in and around the venue were open and traffic remained normal, except when it was briefly stopped at the stretch between Regal Crossing and Lal Chowk till Shah left the venue

According to PTI, the ‘Balidaan Stambh’ project is a part of Srinagar Smart City and it pays tribute to the martyrs who made supreme sacrifices for the country. Stringent security measures had been put in place for the event.
Aside from the LG, Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi, Union Home Secretary, and Secretary of, the Ministry of Culture were also present for the occasion.
Amit Shah said that “The martyrdom of numerous Jawans of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, who sacrificed their lives while fighting terrorists and securing innocent citizens, is a proof that Kashmir and its people are committed towards peace. Today, met the family members of such martyrs in Srinagar and distributed appointment letters on behalf of the J&K govt to the closest kins of the martyrs.”
