The Ministry of Railways in the Government of India oversees the nation’s vast railway network, making sure trains run smoothly across the country. Nestled inside Rail Bhawan in New Delhi, it’s a hub of activity where plans are made and decisions taken. With a whopping 1.3 million employees, it stands as one of the largest employers globally. At the helm is the Minister of Railways, colloquially known as “Rail Mantri,” a prestigious position within the Indian government. Currently, Ashwini Vaishnaw from the Bharatiya Janata Party holds this esteemed role, steering the direction of India’s railways since July 7, 2021. Assisting him are ministers of state, Raosaheb Danve and Darshana Jardosh, working alongside to ensure the smooth functioning of the railways.
