National Park: An area, notified by the State/Central government by reason of its ecological, faunal, floral, geomorphological, or zoological association or importance, needed for the purpose of protecting & propagating or developing wildlife therein or its environment. A National Park is the highest level of protection that can be given to an area under the Wild Life (Protection), Act, 1972.
Wildlife Sanctuary: An area having adequate ecological, faunal, floral, geomorphological, natural or zoological significance, notified by the State/Central Government for the purpose of protecting, propagating or developing wildlife or its environment.
