UP PCS J Selection Procedure:

  • Preliminary exam: objective exam
  • Mains exam: Descriptive exam
  • Interview

UP PCS Civil Judge Exam Pattern

UP PCS Civil Judge Preliminary Exam Pattern:
  • The Exam is of Objective type
  • Question paper comprises of 2 papers.
  • Duration of each paper is 2 Hours.
  • There will be negative marking for each wrong answer
UP PCS Civil Judge Main Exam Pattern:
  • The exam is of Conventional type i.e it consists of descriptive questions.
  • There will be 5 papers.
  • Each paper is conducted for a total of 200 marks.
  • Papers – 3, 4 & 5 consists of questions pertaining to Law Subject.

UP PCS Civil Judge Preliminary Exam

⎯ The Exam is of Objective type
⎯ It consists of Multiple Choice Questions.
⎯ Question paper comprises of 2 papers.
⎯ Duration of each paper is 2 Hours.
⎯ Paper 1 consists of General knowledge for 150 marks
⎯ Paper 2 consists of Law subject for 300 marks
⎯ There will be 1 Mark for right answer and 0.33 negative marking for each wrong
answer

⎯ Criminal Procedure Code

For UP PCS J Main Exam Syllabus

Paper No.1: General Knowledge:

This paper will be of 200 marks.

  • History of India and Indian Culture,
  • Geography of India, Indian Polity,
  • Current National Issues and topics of Social relevance,
  • India and the World,
  • Indian Economy,
  • International Affairs and Institutions and
  • Science and Technology,
  • Communications and Space
  • Paper No.5: Law III (Penal, Revenue and Local Laws):
    This paper will be of 200 marks.
  • All the question set be consists of Indian Penal Code,
  • Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition and Land Reforms Act 1951,
  • Uttar Pradesh Urban Buildings (Regulation of Letting, Rent and Eviction) Act 1972.
  • Municipalities Act,
  • Panchayat Raj Act,
  • Consolidation of Holdings Act,
  • Urban (Planning and Development) Act 1973,
  • Together with rules framed under the aforesaid Acts
Paper No.5: Law III (Penal, Revenue and Local Laws):

This paper will be of 200 marks.

• All the question set be consists of Indian Penal Code,

• Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition and Land Reforms Act 1951,

• Uttar Pradesh Urban Buildings (Regulation of Letting, Rent and Eviction) Act 1972.

• Municipalities Act,

• Panchayat Raj Act,

• Consolidation of Holdings Act,

• Urban (Planning and Development) Act 1973,

• Together with rules framed under the aforesaid Acts

Paper No.2: Language:

This paper will be of 200 marks.

• It shall comprise four questions as specified below:-

Paper No.3: Law-I (Substantive Law):

This paper will be of 200 marks.

• There shall be questions of 50 marks in relation to Constitutional Law alone.

1 – Law of contracts,

2 – Law of Partnership,

3 – Law concerning easements and torts,

4 – Law connecting to transfer of property including the principles of equity, specifically applicable thereto,

5 – The principal of Equity with special reference to the Law of trust

6 – Specific relief,

7 – Hindu Law

8 – Mohammedan Law

9 – Constitutional Law

Paper No.4: Law II (Procedure and Evidence):

This paper will be of 200 marks.

• Criminal Procedure Code

• Code of Civil Procedure.

INTERVIEW

The interview phase for the Uttar Pradesh Judicial Service carries a weightage of 100 marks. During this stage, candidates’ suitability for employment will be assessed, taking into consideration their merit, ability, character, personality, and physique. The marks secured in the interview round will be combined with those obtained in the written mains exam. The final merit list will be determined based on the cumulative marks from both examinations.

CLARIFICATION

– Candidates can opt to respond to General Knowledge and Law papers in either Hindi or English.
– The interview marks will be added to the scores achieved in the written papers, determining the candidate’s overall placement based on the aggregate of both.
– The Commission retains the authority to decline an interview invitation to any candidate.

Eligibility of UP Judicial Service Examination

– Indian citizenship is a prerequisite for applicants.
– Eligible candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in law from a recognized institute or university.
– The age of candidates should fall within the range of 22 to 35 years.
