Why Pursue a Career in Civil Service After Graduation?

Career in Civil Service

Role of Civil Service

The Civil Service of India, often referred to as the backbone of our nation by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, has played a crucial role in our country’s journey since Independence. It has faced various challenges and allegations over the years due to a few individuals engaging in unethical practices. However, it’s undeniable that the bureaucracy has been instrumental in keeping our nation stable during turbulent times.

To put it simply, bureaucrats are like fine wine; they improve with age. Some may argue that talent is more important than experience, but think of it this way: when we get a new car at home, we don’t immediately sell our old car to a scrap dealer. Instead, we sell it to someone who values and intends to restore it. Similarly, experience is irreplaceable, but it does require occasional updates to perform effectively in an ever-changing world and tackle new challenges.

Why Students should choose Civil Service as Career Option:

Honour for Serving

  • The most rewarding aspect of this job is the deep sense of honor you receive from both the people you serve and the pride you feel in helping those in need. As a civil servant, each day’s work brings a unique sense of joy and fulfillment that’s difficult to put into words; it’s a feeling of true liberation. When you experience such profound emotions daily, it’s as if you’re walking on air and floating on water.
  • To better understand this honor, let’s consider the wisdom of the late Major Sood, who tragically lost his life while saving a hostage family from terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. He once said, “As you grow older, you’ll come to realize that the only things that truly matter are the courage and honor you’ve shown.”

Diversity in Job opportunity

  • If you’re someone who thrives on daily diversity and relishes challenges, a career in civil services could be your ideal fit.
