QCI Grants Drone Certification Approval : The Quality Council of India has given provisional approval to the National Test House (NTH) in Ghaziabad to act as a certification body for drones, under the Drone Rules 2021. This means NTH will be responsible for evaluating drones, such as Vimaana Aerospace Technologies’ Krishiraj 1.0, and will offer certification services at a competitive fee of Rs 1.5 lakh.

- The Quality Council of India has given the green light to the National Test House (NTH), under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, to act as a certifying body for drones.
- According to a ministry statement, “As part of the Certification Scheme for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), the National Test House, Northern Region in Ghaziabad, has been provisionally approved as a Certification Body for drone type certification. This marks a major step forward in the government’s efforts to build a strong and competitive drone ecosystem under the Drone Rules of 2021.”

In an upcoming move, a team of auditors from NTH will visit Vimaana Aerospace Technologies in Noida on September 11th and 12th, 2024. The audit will be part of a Stage-2 (onsite) assessment of their D1 application for the Krishiraj 1.0, an agricultural drone model.
How to Get Certified for Drones and Stay Compliant with UAS Regulations
As part of the UAS certification process, NTH will be conducting an onsite assessment of Krishiraj 1.0 in September 2024. This evaluation will check if the drone meets both national and international standards. In India, type certification is required for all drones to ensure they are compliant with regulations.
