Ministry of Skill development and Entrepreneurship: In India, where the majority of the population consists of young people ready to work, the government saw a tremendous opportunity to propel the nation forward. Recognizing the potential of this energetic demographic, which represents a whopping 65% of the country’s youth, the government under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the groundbreaking Skill India initiative.
This initiative, a first of its kind since independence, is geared towards tapping into the talents and abilities of the youth to drive progress. Its primary goal is to bridge the gap between the demand for skilled workers and the available workforce. Additionally, it strives to standardize skill development programs across the board, ensuring consistency and alignment towards a common objective. To spearhead this ambitious endeavor, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) was established, focusing on empowering young people with the necessary skills to thrive in the job market.
Objective of Ministry of Skill development and Entrepreneurship
- Bringing together all skill development initiatives nationwide to ensure everyone’s efforts are coordinated effectively.
- Making sure there’s enough skilled workforce to meet the job market’s needs by narrowing the space between demand and supply.
- Designing a vocational and technical structure that supports individuals in acquiring practical skills for various professions.
- Enhancing the skills people already have to keep up with evolving job requirements.
- Fostering the development of innovative thinking and new skills not just for current positions, but also for the jobs that will emerge in the future.
