Andhra Pradesh launches ‘e-Chits’ App

Andhra Pradesh launches 'e-Chits' Revenue Minister Dharman Prasad Rao has launched an electronic service delivery system called ‘e-chits’ ...

Current Context:

In a bid to safeguard the interests of subscribers and bring greater transparency to the chit fund sector, the Andhra Pradesh government has introduced the E-Chits app. This innovative app is designed to provide financial protection to chit fund company subscribers, especially in the wake of alleged scams that have plagued the industry. With its launch, the government aims to regulate the sector effectively and instill transparency, offering a much-needed sense of security to chit fund subscribers.

  • The app will enable the registration department officials to verify subscribers and only then give approval.
  • The app will also allow the subscribers to verify whether a chit run by a company is registered with the authorities or not, and to file an online complaint in case of any problem.
  • The app was developed by the Registration and Stamps Department and launched by the Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao on Monday. The app can be accessed from https://echits.rs.ap.gov.in.

VIJAYAWADA:

Revenue Minister Dharman Prasad Rao has launched an electronic service delivery system called ‘e-chits’ to protect the interests of chit fund subscribers in Andhra Pradesh here on Monday.

According to the minister, cases are being booked on chit fund companies against their resort to fraudulent practices to dupe the subscribers. In this context, the state has come up with the software application to avoid cheating of the people by such firms.

The department of stamps and registration had developed the new software application, he said, and added that all the chit fund companies must carry out all their transactions through the software application only. This would help the department to monitor the transactions online and avoid any illegal practices, the minister claimed.

He asserted that the main objective was to ensure conduct of all transactions in chit fund business in a transparent manner. Subscribers must remain alert and check whether the chit fund firms they were trying to subscribe had proper registration with the government or not.

The minister also urged the people to consult the assistant registrar of chits in the respective district headquarters in case they faced any problem. The new app would also help resolve issues online, he added.

“This policy helps prevent fraud by chit fund companies and avoid loss to subscribers,” Ramakrishna told PTI on Monday, adding that the app will also ensure that subscribers know which registered companies are operating in the chit fund business.

Subscribers can verify whether a chit run by a company is registered with the authorities or not, he said, including enabling them to enquire about the registered chits directly from regulating officials such as the assistant registrar of chits located at each district headquarters.

The Inspector General noted that in the event of any subscriber facing a problem with a chit fund company, the aggrieved subscriber can file an online complaint through the software to escalate the issue to the concerned officer of the department to find a quick resolution.
